Indri Agneya is a lightly peated Indian single malt whisky produced by the Piccadily Distillery in Haryana, India. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, it is bottled at 46% ABV and named after a Sanskrit term meaning “belonging to fire”.

The whisky is known for its complex flavor profile of tropical fruits, toffee, and subtle peat smoke.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Delicate hints of chocolate intertwined with subtle vanilla sweetness, a touch of spice, dried apple and apricot. Notes of fruit jam and peat dust with earthy undertones.
Palate: Tropical fruits like mango, ripe banana, rich toffee, light spice followed by a warm embrace of dried peat smoke. Melon adds a refreshing twist, while a sweet, fruity essence lingers with a soft, rounded smokiness.
Finish: A blend of sweet and salty nuances, culminating in a smooth, smoky finish. Balanced layers of fruit sweetness and soft spice

Indri Dru Cask Strength

Dru (द्रु), is a cask strength expression from Indri, where selected ex-bourbon barrels are handpicked and married together by our master blender to offer you an experience that will awaken your senses.

In Sanskrit, ‘Dru’ means wood, tree, or a vessel made of wood. In ancient Indian mythology, Dru was a vessel in which ‘soma’ (a drink) was collected and offered to the Gods.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Whiff of mixed fruit basket, vanilla, subtle citrus hints, gentle spice, chocolate, and honey tones expressing robust nose profile.
Palate: Sweetish fruity forward taste with, soft spice followed immediately with sweet vanilla, the hint of chocolate with wood lactones, and citrus appearing from the back of the palate.
Finish Fuller bodies, complex with mixed fruit finish that is fairly long, chewable, and salivating dram.

Indri Trini Single Malt Indian Whisky

The trinity creates a treat for the senses.

The magic of the marriage of three different wood casks comes to its splendour when our malts are matured in ex-bourbon, ex-wine, and ex-sherry casks.

The ex-bourbon adds a vanilla and coconut note, the ex-wine lends a honey peppery note, and the px sherry cask imparts a dark amber colour with sweet and blackcurrant notes.

It embellishes our malt with the finest shade of Amber, a whiff of caramelized pineapple, vanilla, hints of black tea, raisins & citrus and subtle nuttiness. The smoothness and flavour linger long after the glass has been put aside.

The second limited edition release from Amrut in their Spectrum series will see only 6,000 bottles worldwide. Amrut’s distillers describe this Spectrum 004 Single Malt Whisky as a mosaic of tastes and flavors lent by the four varieties of oak.

Initially matured in an ex-bourbon barrel before it was transferred to a custom-built, unique barrel constructed out of four different varieties of oak.

The four varieties of oak include American oak with level three charring, French oak with slight toasting, Ex-Oloroso Sherry stave, and Ex-Px Sherry stave.

Amrut Greedy Angels

Amrut Greedy Angels 8 years old

You have probably heard about the angels’ share, whereby a certain amount of whisky is lost each year due to evaporation (casks are not air-tight vessels of course, they breath and it’s a good job they do as it’s key for maturation). The amount lost each year in Scotland is ‘only’ around 2% (still amounting to over 160 million bottles!), whereas in India (where the temperatures reach 40 degrees Celsius in the summer) the rate of evaporation is 10-16%(!)

It is because of India’s ‘greedy angels’ that Amrut rarely age their single malt whiskies for longer than 4 years. This release however, was aged for 8 whole years. Almost 274 litres of spirit were lost in this experiment but what remains is really rather good indeed…

Amrut Portonova

A very interesting little whisky from Amrut, this is unpeated and aged in American oak bourbon barrels before a finish in port pipes, especially imported from Portugal. Lovely stuff!

Nose: Fruity, chocolate-driven nose with syrup, toffee and a hint of coconut, pepper and allspice. Red berries too!

Palate: Fruity and intense with tropical fruits, redcurrant jelly, baked bananas and cinnamon.

Finish: Long and fruity, hints of cranberry.
