Produced solely from Bere barley grown at the Clochkiel farm in Campbeltown, this 2025 edition of Springbank’s iconic ‘Local Barley’ was selected from a parcel of casks, 60% ex-bourbon and 40% ex-sherry.

The nose opens with notes of fig rolls, date syrup and plums, before a more pronounced savoury element develops.

To taste, an earthy burdock and mushroom flavour comes through, with vivid umami notes of tamari soy sauce and liquorice. On the finish, notes of campfire ash and treacle round out this Springbank.

Opening with notes of blood orange, brandy snaps and vanilla custard, there is a pronounced rich fruity quality throughout.

The palate is spiced and fruity, with morello cherries, lemon curd and touches of fresh mint.

To finish, the casks impart a distinct flavour of maple syrup and cola bottles, with a citric key lime pie tang.

Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, this is a bright and vibrant dram, with green apples, gorse bush, wine gums and a coastal mineral note. The classic Springbank profile continues, combining sweet confectionery notes of icing sugar and white chocolate, with savoury notes of tomato plant and sunflower seeds.

Softly smoked, spicy and nutty malted barley lingers in the finish, honeyed and tangy with the flavour of gooseberries.

This is an ongoing expression that the distillery intends to be more regularly available throughout the year.

Inside lies the signature Blue Label blend, composed from a rare selection of malt and grain whiskies drawn from distilleries across Scotland, including a few that no longer exist. Each cask is selected to meet the Blue Label standard, with fewer than 1 in 10,000 barrels deemed worthy.

The result is a whisky of remarkable smoothness and depth, combining honeyed sweetness, sherry richness and subtle smoke.

Palate: Dark chocolate, sandalwood, and sherry tones unfold with delicate smoke.

Finish: Lingering notes of spice, oak and soft peat.

The one was matured in octave casks made from bourbon, Pedro Ximénez, and Amontillado casks, imparting huge helpings of dried fruit and vanilla notes to the single malt.

There is a mix of aromas – toffee, wood spices (think of cinnamon and nutmeg), cereal grains, dried fruits (imagine raisins, currants and candied orange peel) and some dark chocolate.

On the palate, this is rich and full-bodied with a slight oily feeling. It is again highly characterful, like the nose, and is dense, robust and silky. First comes some distinct cereal notes, plenty of dried fruits (raisins, currants and peel again) and caramel/toffee.

The aroma of butterscotch sweetness and peated barley can be found at the start, bringing a mouth-coating feeling that soon gives way to a nutty, meaty, and salty combination – think of maple syrup and salted, peat-smoked meats on a charcuterie board.
