McArthur Ridge McArthur Gully Pinot Noir 2022 is effectively the same wine, but a small portion of the Southern Tor blend was aged in experimental barrels. This minor difference prevented the winery owners from labelling this release as Souther Tor – so the McArthur Gully label was devised. If you’re looking for truly world-class pinot noir at an affordable price, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Season
An early bud burst was followed by a breezy spring and a cooler summer. However, a lovely, long autumn allowed for extended ripeness and berries with great fruit concentration.

Enjoy
This back vintage wine has been carefully cellared at our Bendigo Estate, allowing it to age beautifully in the bottle for your delight. It can be enjoyed now, but has the potential of a further 4 years if well cellared. Ideally served at 16° C, we recommend this wine be enjoyed with duck or other game birds.

These wines are crafted entirely from estate-grown fruit purchased from neighbouring organic growers, friends who steward their land with the same care, curiosity, and high standards we hold at Coal Pit.

Their work in the vineyard has been exceptional, and it’s a privilege to showcase fruit grown with such integrity. Cocoa and Christmas cake lead the nose, layered with lifted dusty spice and a hint of dried bark that brings both warmth and freshness. Beneath the richness, a vivid Bendigo signature emerges: bramble berries, dark plum skin, and a fine quartz-driven mineral line that threads through the aromatics.

The palate is dense and generous. Fruit wrapped in broad, chalky tannins that fill out the mid-palate with satisfying weight.

This wine has power, the wine hums with energy. That ripe intensity is carried by a pulse of bright acidity and a graphite tension that keeps the wine poised and shapely.

The finish is long and tapers slowly. A wine of presence and drive, showing Bendigo’s trademark combination of richness, structure, and electric vitality.

Tasting note
Bright ruby hue. Dark cherries, blackberries, cloves, alluring aromas that grow with more time in the glass. Soft silky texture that coates the mouth with very fine grained tannins. Dark savoury fruits and chalky acidity drives through the palate. A wine that unfolds with time and matches beautifully with New Zealand lamb.

Expressive and fragrant showing pretty florals, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, thyme, spice and charry oak. The palate is sweet on entry with dark cherry, black Doris plum, blackberry, red currant, mushroom and dark chocolate. Medium bodied, concentrated, finely balanced and very complex. Velvety silky fine tannin that leads into a very long mineral and plum finish.

The debut New Zealand release from James Suckling’s Mirae Vineyard marks an extraordinary start — a wine of quiet confidence and depth, shaped by the guiding hands of Helen Masters and viticulturist Marco Simonit.

From vines planted in 1986, this Pinot Noir opens with lifted aromatics of wild cherry, redcurrant, and rose petal, layered with delicate spice, dried herbs, and subtle forest floor. The palate is poised and finely woven — a balance of purity and structure, where supple red fruit glides over silky tannins and a long, mineral thread.

There’s a graceful energy to the wine — transparent and vibrant — that speaks clearly of its Martinborough origins yet expresses something distinctly its own: precision, texture, and quiet power. The oak is seamlessly handled, framing the fruit without intrusion.

With its old-vine depth, organic farming, and meticulous craft, this inaugural release sets a remarkable tone for what’s to come from Mirae — a Pinot Noir of refinement, purity, and promise.

The 2022 Mount Michael Pinot Noir has bright florals, red cherry and dried herbs on the nose. Rich and concentrated on the palate which has spice, red berries and plum. Medium body with lovely texture, fruit is balanced by chalky tannins. Enhanced by a mineral acid line brings it all together.

Drinking beautifully now, but you will be rewarded with further cellaring.
