Picking decisions were taken to maximise fruit expression whilst still maintaining the delicate balance between ripeness & acidity. The fruit was gently pressed, with only the free-run juice going to the tank & a small portion going to neutral French oak barrels. A slow, cool fermentation followed to ensure purity of fruit & then it aged on yeast lees for approximately 6 months to add texture and mouthfeel. Both parcels of wine were then blended together, adding different layers of texture & additional complexity to the finished wine before being estate-bottled here at the Greystone vineyard.

TASTING NOTE
This wine is made from beautifully sun-ripened fruit grown on our established Rocky Vineyard vines. Fresh white florals of rose and jasmine are complemented by lifted aromatics of pear, subtle spice and a touch of honey. On harvest day, the fruit was soaked in skins until the desired level of tannin and flavour was gently extracted, then pressed. This approach was chosen to build structure and complexity in the finished wine. While the flavour profile is ripe and expressive, the wine remains dry and mineral in style.

Light straw in colour, the nose is fragrant with layers of orange citrus, honeysuckle, white flowers, ginger, vanilla and white pepper.

The palate possesses weight and intensity with flavourful yellow-fleshed stone fruit, ginger, apricot kernel and tangelo zest. Soft acids provide balance and lift. Showing the naturally occurring complexity and vibrancy of the 2024 vintage, it has a long lingering finish.

Located in the heart of this unforgiving mountainous region Central Otago sits the expansive vineyard of McArthur Ridge. The cool climate and gently sloping Brassknocker soils combine to deliver what some consider to be amongst the finest vineyards in the world for growing Pinot.

This wine is both fleshy and fruity.

Brilliant, very pale straw colour, very pale on the rim. The nose is very fresh and tightly bound with finely concentrated aromas of white stonefruits and white florals, with a subtle core of nuts and honeysuckle, revealing nuances of minerals. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a tight and crisp mouthfeel with a soft core of white stonefruits and white florals, enriched by honeysuckle elements. The palate richness is balanced by refreshing acidity and the wine follows a light, dry, gently-textured line with some grainy grip. The flavours recede as the wine carries to a dry, light, nuanced finish. This is a softly fresh, off-dry Pinot Gris with subtle white stonefruit, floral and honeysuckle flavours and a dry, fine textured mouthfeel.

Vintage 2019

The aromas have typical peach and stone fruit notes tinged with the floral perfume that we have come to expect from Pinot Gris. The wine is lively, complex and lingers on the palate. Pinot Gris is a variety that goes particularly well with food, including quite intensely flavoured dishes.

This wine is pale straw in colour and shows lifted aromatics of white fleshed nectarines combined with fragrant spice. The palate is juicy with delicious flavours of ripe peach, nectarine and subtle nutty and spicy characters, all resting on a backbone of lovely bright acidity.
