The Doctor’s Riesling

John Forrest’s The Doctors’ very popular summery style Riesling has been at the forefront of getting Kiwis back to appreciating and enjoying this salivating grape variety. Made in a pure Germanic style with medium sweetness and low alcohol (8.5%), this 2013 vintage is the finest yet and is bound to keep the sales graph continuing on a steep upward curve this summer.

SMELLS: Exceptional purity with apple, mandarin, lemon zest, white peach and white florals, reminiscent of jasmine and acacia.

TASTES: Unctuous and rich with suggestions of honey, white peach, lime and apple, a surge of fruit sweetness perfectly offset by a racy acidity that buoys the crisp finish. Exotic and generous, this Riesling is a show stopper both literally and metaphorically. It’s also a superb chilled summer white to enjoy with lightly spiced Asian food, smoked salmon and pan seared fresh fish. Not to forget it’s the most delicious aperitif style, which is why it’s so popular in the warm summer months.
