From vineyards in Alexandra and Cromwell. The continental Central Otago climate is one of extremes – the fiercely cold nights and long, warm summer days allow the black queen to display pure, vibrant fruit.
Partially handpicked, 100% stainless steel fermentation and plunged 3-4 times per day. A light dusting of 10% new oak is balanced by 3-4 year old French oak. Oak aged for 10 months, and lightly filtered.
Medium purple/red in colour, this very aromatic Pinot Noir releases aromas of black cherry, star anise, wild thyme and marjoram. The palate is juicy and full of mulberries and cherries leading to a lingering, spiced finish. The perfect match for a night in front of the open fire after a day on the slopes!
