The Distillers Edition series sees some spectacular whisky double matured in specially paired wine-finished casks.
This Caol Ila joins the 2022 collection, and the smoky Islay single malt has been matured in Moscatel-seasoned American oak casks, lending a sweet complexity to the powerful, coastal character.
Nose: Waves of coastal peat, with damp ashes, and subtle hints of dried apricot.
Palate: The full-flavored smoke has a sweeter edge tending more towards barbecue smoke, with some pepper and cinnamon alongside.
Finish: Lovely and smoky.
