Elephant Hill Chardonnay 2014

A Single Vineyard wine off Elephant Hill’s Te Awanga block, this 2016 Elephant Hill Chardonnay is hand picked, whole bunch pressed, before fermentation in fine French oak (25%-30% new) for 11 months. The resulting wine is a case study in richness and harmony, a tribute to a second consecutive Hawkes Bay vintage that will rank among the greats.

SMELLS: Toasty and rich with hazelnut, brioche, ripe stonefruit and nougat.

TASTES: Succulent, silky and creamy, the palate is filled with grilled nuts and suggestions of bran biscuit, stonefruit, pineapple and creme caramel. A classic Chardonnay from start to finish it is very enjoyable young but will reward cellaring through 2020,
