Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon

Elijah Craig, owned by the brilliant Heaven Hill, is one of the most well-known bourbon brands around the world. The name itself harks back to Reverend Elijah Craig, whom has been said to be the inventor of bourbon as we known it. Bourbon (as we know it) must be matured in new, charred oak casks. Many people claim that the first documented case of this happening was at Craig’s distillery around 1789 (Reverends can have distilleries if they want – everyone needs a hobby). Some people say there was a fire, some barrels got charred, Craig used the barrels anyway and found that he enjoyed the impact the charred casks had on the whiskey. Like a lot of great discoveries, bourbon might have been an accident.
