Kirin Whisky, part of the Kirin Group known for its beers, is produced at the Fuji Gotemba distillery at the foot of Mount Fuji. The climate there is similar to Scotland, with an average temperature of thirteen degrees Celsius. Recently, Kirin Whisky has earned accolades like Japanese Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Grain Whisky.

As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, the distillery is expanding into export markets and launching new products.

The latest release features a blend of single malts aged up to sixteen years, using ex-Bourbon, French oak red wine barriques, and beer casks, showcasing Master Blender Jota Tanaka’s signature layered complexity.

Tanaka describes this whisky as “Delicate, but with lots of layers of flavours. All in harmony,” with tasting notes of oatmeal biscuits, fresh peaches, and white table grapes, finished with a hint of wildflower honey.
