Whilst the 2012 vintage was cooler Puriri Hills were still able to magic this opulent and perfectly ripe Estate wine thanks to their close-planted, impeccably managed clay rich, free draining hillside vineyards just outside Clevedon. The winemaking team of Judy Fowler, Phil Nunweek and Evert Nijzink preferred to strengthen this Estate bottling by not releasing a Pope, the result being a super-charged Estate able to subsume plenty of new oak and over two years in barrel. Brilliant drinking now and entering a wonderful 6-year period of luxurious enjoyment.

Smells

Seductive dark chocolate, coffee and cedar, with cassis, raspberry and brambly fruit.

Tastes

Lush, bight and generous red fruit spanning red plum, cherry and blackcurrant, the tannins fine and lavish, melting away in the mouth. No apparent sign of a cooler vintage in this wine, just the amazing Puriri Hills quality and ripeness we’ve come to expect. remarkably at a price that enables us to indulge with regularity!
