Springbank Distillery is truly unique. It is the oldest independent family-owned distillery in Scotland, founded in 1828 on the site of Archibald Mitchell’s illicit still.

The distillery in Campbeltown performs all traditional floor malting, maturation, and bottling. This distillery produces the most handcrafted whisky in Scotland, employing traditional production methods and ensuring human involvement at every stage of the process.

Like a storm gathering on the Kintyre coast, it is dark and ominous yet tastes so good. The richness comes from the high percentage of sherry casks used in maturation.

Tasting Note

Nose: Fragrant with a certain richness. Notes of fruit salad and a hint of caramel, pineapple, guava and passion fruit lurk. There are notes of dried leather and old ropes. A hint of toffee sweetness and some granary toast.

Palate: It is quite full and rich. There are notes of creamy fruit salad and more exotic fruit. The oaked tannins produce palpable mastication with a hint of spice.

Finish: Fairly long with a gentle warmth.
