Moreau-Naudet Petit Chablis
The last twenty years have thankfully seen a renewed interest in the wines of the Chablis region, following the bad times of phylloxera in the late 19th century. Domaine Moreau-Naudet is a standout among the proliferation of new estates. Since taking over form his father in 1991, Stephane Moreau is producing wines that are the pure expression of the grape variety and terroir. He undertakes rigorous work in the vineyard, all vines hand tended and grapes hand harvested, to produce the very finest fruit possible and the result is impressive: fine, racy classic Chablis with a definite mineral and flint character. Influenced by Dauvissat and Raveneau, Domaine Moreau-Naudet is soon to join these high achievers at the top of the appellation. A revelation for a wine at this level, Stephane is still working on bringing yields down in this vineyard and sells off in bulk anything hes not happy with.
