An iconic Central Otago Pinot Noir. They say good help is hard to find but obviously not in Central Otago – when you can employ world-famous winemaking guru Rudi Bauer to make your Pinot Noir things are looking up. Black Poplar has already got a cult following, the vineyard sitting about 10 km north of Cromwell between Lake Dunstan and the Pisa Ranges and the wines proven to age with grace and charm. Enjoy in its youth or cellar up to a decade.

Smells- The aromatics are strikingly pretty with rose petals, cherries, woodsmoke, summer plums and wild thyme.

Tastes- Silky and elegant in the mouth, the fruit sweetness is supported by a bed of fine tannins and excellent palate drive, subtle earthy notes emerging on the long finish. Great in its youth, this 2014 is slightly less of a blockbuster than past releases but still maintaining the excellent quality its legions of fans have come to expect. Enjoy between now and 2023.
